The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Q1 Update (March 2025)

NECA Codes and Standards Committee

Under the leadership of Greg Long (District 9, V.P. and Committee Chair) preparations are underway for the 2025 NECA Codes and Standards Committee Meeting and Orientation, taking place in Washington, DC the week of April 28th. We look forward to discussing at large the results of the 2026 NEC® Second Draft. We welcome the following new Codes and Standards Committee Members:

  • Code Making Panel-1 for five code cycles 

Sassaman is recognized as a Code Panel member in the committee section of the following NEC editions: 1999, 2002, 2005, 2008, 2011, 2014, 2017, 2020, 2023, and 2026. We are grateful for Harry’s participation and dedication to the betterment of the electrical construction industry.

We are excited to share the latest developments regarding NECA’s library of ANSI-Accredited standards. The National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS™) embodies NECA’s commitment to excellence in striving to ensure safety, reliability, quality, and efficiency of electrical installations.

2024 was an eventful year for the NEIS Library. With the support of NECA members and other members of the electrical industry, NINE new and revised standards gained ANSI approval as American National Standards:

  • NECA 90, Standard for Commissioning Building Electrical Systems
  • NECA 100, Symbols for Electrical Construction Drawings
  • NECA/NEMA 105, Standard for Installing Metal-Cable Tray Systems
  • NECA 121, Standard for Installing Nonmetallic-Sheathed Cable (Type NM-B) and Underground Feeder and Branch-Circuit Cable (Type UF)
  • NECA 413, Standard for Installing and Maintaining Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE)
  • NECA 417, Recommended Practice for Designing, Installing, Operating, and Maintaining Microgrids
  • NECA 430, Standard for Installing and Commissioning Medium-Voltage Switchgear
  • NECA/EATON 507, Recommended Practices for Electrical Wiring and Equipment in Hazardous Locations
  • NECA 714, Recommended Practice for Firestopping Electrical Penetrations

The publishing process is underway, and the new publications will be available in the NECA Store soon.

Standards Development work will continue strong in 2025, with several standards being created, revised, and ultimately voted on by the Consensus Body Members.
