National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS™)

NEiS Logo

We are excited to share the latest developments regarding NECA’s library of ANSI-Accredited standards. The National Electrical Installation Standards (NEIS™) embodies NECA’s commitment to excellence in striving to ensure safety, reliability, quality, and efficiency of electrical installations. For more information you can view the NEIS™, Standards as High as Your Own online democast NECA presented for Construction Specifier Magazine.

We are pleased to announce that NECA recently completed their cyclical ANSI audit, securing its status as an ANSI-Accredited Standards Developer (ASD). This accomplishment paves the way for NECA to continue in the development of ANSI-Accredited standards geared towards workmanship.

In line with NECA’s commitment to the success of its members and the electrical industry, we are pleased to introduce the latest additions to the NEIS™ library:

  • NECA 5-2022, Recommended Practice for Prefabrication of Electrical Installations for Construction. This ANSI-Accredited Standard is the first of its kind. With electrical construction still in the early stages of industrialization, the industry needs a standard that will enable tacit knowledge transfer, ultimately leading to improvement in time, cost, quality, and safety to the electrical construction industry.
  • NECA 91-2023, Recommended Practice for Maintaining Electrical Equipment. In today's rapidly evolving technological landscape, maintaining electrical equipment with exceptional workmanship is essential to ensure optimal performance and minimize operational risk. With this understanding, NECA has developed a world-class recommended practice, designed to complement NFPA 70B, Standard for Electrical Equipment Maintenance. This recommended practice is designed to aid in safely performing electrical equipment maintenance, while achieving the level of dependability and quality that NECA contractors are known for, and their customers expect.

These new NEIS™ Standards can be purchased individually, in digital or hardcopy format, or as part of the digital NEIS™ annual subscription, at the NECA Store.
