In August, the Nebraska Chapter attended the 12th annual Federal Legislative Summit in Ashland, Nebraska. During this event, they received an update on the political climate in Washington, D.C., by Sen. Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.), Rep. Adrian Smith (R-Neb.), and Rep. Don Bacon (R-Neb.).

On Thursday, members of the Southern Indiana Chapter visited Washington D.C. and met Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.). They discussed infrastructure and potential budget resolution. On September 14, Rob Turner of NECA’s Michigan Chapter met with Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Mich.) to discuss the state of work in the area. Rob discussed the effectiveness of the Paycheck Protection Program in helping his employees and emphasized the importance of loan forgiveness and that the forgiven loan is not taxable.

200915 Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter with Rep. Brian FitzpatrickOn September 15, the NECA Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter hosted a Zoom Meeting with Congressman Brian K. Fitzpatrick (D-Pa.). During the event, the group discussed NECA’s positions regarding change orders, reverse auctions, and multiemployer pension reform. In attendance were Ryan Holleran of HB Frazer, Shawn Duff of Carr & Duff, Rob Bresnahan of Kuharchik Construction, Curt Fox of Nucero, Jim Meyer of Battaglia, Jim Kofskie of Mariano Construction, and Sam Bashore of Heim. Many Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter Staff also participated.

On August 20, members of NECA’s Mahoning Valley Chapter met with Rep. Bill Johnson (R-Ohio) to discuss a variety of issues. Some highlights of the conversation were the importance of contractor liability protection on a federal level, the effect of the unemployment stimulus on our industry, manpower issues, and how COVID-19 has affected our contractors.

On August 21, 2019, NECA’s NYC Chapter hosted Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-NY) at their Training Center in New York. The tour and roundtable that followed touched on many topics, including the Administration’s proposed rule on IRAPs and the concerns NECA had, all of which were agreed to by Rep. Maloney, a senior House Democrat and long-term friend of NECA.
