The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

June 2026 eSafetyLine Safety Minute

Welcome to NECA’s June Safety Minute bringing you the latest safety news sponsored by NECA and Intec, developers of eSafetyLine. 

 

This marks the 30th Annual Safety Month, sponsored by the National Safety Council. There are weekly focuses on hazards and this year’s include Moving Safety Forward, Staying Safe on the Roads, Promoting Holistic Worker Health, and Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls.

 

 

The inaugural Zero Electrocution Challenge is a recurring national competition to end workplace fatalities. Managed by McElhattan Foundation, the Zero Electrocution Challenge is seeking breakthrough solutions that eliminate life-threatening tasks that lead to fatal electrocution on the job. Strong proposals for the Zero Electrocution Challenge should be effective, game-changing, feasible, and scalable. Two winners will each receive up to $1 million. The Edison Electric Institute is holding its annual conference in Las Vegas, As part of the Conference an Executive Safety Forum will be conducted on June 2 with key Electric Utility leaders which will include discussions on “Safety in the Boardroom: A Roadmap for Presenting SIF Prevention, Defining Safety as a Value with perspectives from the field and Operationalizing SIF Prevention with companies sharing benefits realized from implementation.


The American Society of Safety Engineers is holding their annual ASSP conference 6/8-11 in Anaheim, CA. The event will feature dedicated technical sessions on NFPA 70E (Arc Flash Safety), lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), and personal protective equipment (PPE) selection for field electricians.

 

 

 

The NECA Future Leadership conference is also happening 6/15-17 in Pittsburgh, PA.  The event focuses on professional development for electrical tradesmen. It includes strict focus areas on the business of safe electrical construction, communication strategies on hazardous jobsites, and structured prefabrication shop tours to learn about controlled environment safety practice. Additionally, June 15-19 is Trench Safety Stand Down week. The goal of the campaign, sponsored by the National Utility Contractor Association, is to reach those working in and around trenches and excavations and provide information about current excavation requirements and safety procedures.
