NECA and NEMRA Unveil Exciting New Training Program to Strengthen Contractor-Rep Partnerships
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the National Electrical Manufacturers Representatives Association (NEMRA) are thrilled to announce an industry-first training initiative designed to revolutionize how manufacturers’ representatives support NECA contractors. The NECA-NEMRA: Education for Success in Electrical Markets program, powered by the electrical training ALLIANCE’s Interim Credentials Program on the SkillsPrep platform, will provide NEMRA representatives with cutting-edge industry knowledge, ensuring they can bring even more value to every contractor they work with.
This game-changing program is set to bridge the gap between reps and contractors like never before. By mastering key electrical codes, safety regulations, and job site operations, NEMRA reps will be better equipped to understand contractors’ needs, speak their language, and provide solutions that make a real impact on project success. And this is just the beginning—NECA and NEMRA hope to expand the curriculum with second- and third-year modules, continuously raising the bar for industry collaboration.
"This first-of-its-kind training plan is the direct result of our industry associations coalition as we work together harder than ever to meet the demands of customers for our memberships and lead the electrification of America," said David Long, CEO of NECA. "By providing electrical field-level education opportunities to NEMRA member representatives in partnership with the electrical training ALLIANCE and SkillsPrep, our goal is to help anyone striving for improvement— get the right education. When they meet with NECA contractors, they will be the value-added partner for every project and job site we collectively touch nationwide."
The launch of this program means that the 328 Rep firms and more than 2,900 professionals in NEMRA will now have access to unparalleled training on the National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Alarm Code, OSHA regulations, and much more—ensuring they can confidently step onto any job site and speak the language of electrical contractors.
"This collaboration between NEMRA and NECA represents a pivotal step in elevating the role of manufacturers' representatives within the electrical industry," said Jim Johnson, President and CEO of NEMRA. "By equipping our reps with specialized education and training, we are ensuring they have the knowledge, credibility, and technical expertise to serve as indispensable partners to electrical contractors. This initiative is about more than just education—it’s about strengthening our industry’s foundation and preparing for the future together."
The NECA-NEMRA training program is a bold step forward for the industry, reinforcing the value of strong partnerships between reps and contractors. With this initiative, NECA contractors can look forward to working with even more knowledgeable and proactive reps who are ready to support their success on every project. Be assured, as a NECA contractor, if you come in contact with a representative with the ‘NECA-NEMRA Credential’ badge on their business cards, they are highly trained and a graduate of this Interim Credentials Program.
