NECA Joins the Intersociety Forum in Advancing Core Principles for Occupational Safety
(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) is proud to announce its participation in the Intersociety Forum (ISF), a coalition of leading organizations dedicated to safeguarding worker safety and health. As part of this coalition, NECA urges the prioritization of modern occupational environmental, health, and safety (EHS) practices, reinforcing the critical role that workplace safety plays in driving economic growth and business success.
Despite technological advancements and increased awareness, workplace injury and fatality rates have remained stagnant over the past decade. NECA, along with its 13 other ISF participants, are calling on business leaders and policymakers to go beyond compliance and adopt risk-based safety strategies that enhance worker well-being, improve productivity, and strengthen global competitiveness.
The ISF report outlines three core principles to drive meaningful improvements in workplace safety:
- Standards and Worker Well-Being: Implementing and upholding rigorous safety standards ensures that employees return home safely each day, strengthening public trust and organizational reputation.
- Embracing Risk and Safety Management Systems: Proactive, risk-based safety approaches empower businesses to mitigate hazards before they lead to injuries, reducing costs and operational disruptions.
- Revolutionizing Recordkeeping for Predictive Insights: Leveraging data-driven safety analytics enhances decision-making, enabling companies to anticipate and prevent workplace incidents more effectively.
“It is important that NECA participates with other Safety Organizations to lead safety beyond compliance,” said Wesley Wheeler, NECA Executive Director of Safety. “The ISF is a committed group of safety organizations that NECA supports to ensure our employers have all the resources and information they need to lead safety for the electrical contracting industry. Our combined voices demonstrate to OSHA and the DOL that ‘Safety is a Core Value’ for all our organizations.”
The ISF coalition’s commitment to worker safety extends beyond the immediate business benefits. By promoting a sustainable workforce, advancing operational excellence, and advocating for policies that prioritize occupational EHS, NECA and its partners aim to position the United States as a global leader in workplace safety and economic prosperity.
As part of this initiative, ISF will continue engaging with key policymakers, including the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), to drive forward meaningful changes that support workers and businesses alike.
