NECA’s Giamberardino and Karbowsky Earn Top Spots as Leading Lobbyists for 2023

Dec 11, 2023

The recognition of NECA’s lobbying efforts continues to roll in year after year, as The Hill released its annual list of top lobbyists for 2023. For the sixth straight year, NECA’s Senior Vice President of Government and Public Affairs, Marco Giamberardino has been recognized as an association leader who successfully works with members of Congress to influence policy. NECA Director of Government Affairs Jared Karbowsky also earned a top lobbyist spot alongside Giamberardino for his second straight recognition.

The website, The Hill, covers U.S. politics with a focus on Capitol Hill, names the year’s top corporate, association, independent and grassroots lobbyists each year. The publication sorts through the more than 12,500 lobbyists active in 2023 to determine the most impactful individuals.

The National Institute for Lobbying and Ethics, for the third year in a row, has also named Giamberardino as a top lobbyist for 2023. Being a list of just 100 lobbyists, this recognition is completely merit-based and emphasizes Giamberardino’s presence on Capitol Hill. This year’s list of recipients includes a wide range of specialties of the advocacy profession, including lobbyists, PAC professionals, and grassroots professionals who were nominated by their peers. Contenders for this distinction are nominated by their peers, clients or Congressional staff, recognizing lobbyists who showed significant success in 2023, took an innovative approach to their field, demonstrated a commitment to give back to their community and profession and adhered to the highest ethical standards. The award also spotlights the lobbyists’ ability to push through barriers with their revolutionary mindsets and thought leadership skills.

“It is a tremendous honor to, once again, receive this prestigious recognition by my peers,” said Giamberardino. “Our team is so very grateful to have the opportunity to advocate for an industry that is not only growing by leaps and bounds but one that is also committed to empowering lives and communities across America and a better Washington for their industry and America. A special thanks to Jessica Cardenas and Hadlea Bender for each providing critical assets to our dynamic advocacy team; we could not have accomplished everything we have without them.”

Over the past year, NECA was able to secure significant wins for its members, including passage of the CHIPS and Science Act and the Inflation Reduction Act. In addition, NECA was invited to the White House twice this year, testifying before the Workforce Protections Subcommittee and attending the White House Pipeline Challenge. NECA also worked with the federal agencies as they began to implement their regulatory agenda for the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, worked with DOJ and DOL to strengthen the partnership between the two agencies to address worker misclassification, pushed for an update of the Davis-Bacon and Related Acts, and offered public comments implementing the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Program.
