2021 National Award Winners: Mechanical Contractors Association of America Honored With NECA Industry Partner Award
Since 1996, the NECA Industry Partner Award has been presented to individuals or organizations who are allied with the electrical construction industry. In 2021, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), the trade association representing firms involved in heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, piping, and mechanical service, is being recognized with this award.
MCAA was presented with the award on Oct. 10 as part of the NECA Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee.
MCAA includes the Mechanical Service Contractors of America, the Plumbing Contractors of America, the National Certified Pipe Welding Bureau, the MCAA Manufacturer/Supplier Council, and the John R. Gentille Foundation. The association represents approximately 2,600 firms, and has a labor partnership with the United Association. Along with NECA, MCAA has worked to advance the unionized construction industry across the United States.
In 2021, MCAA joined NECA and The Association of Union Constructors (TAUC) in a strategic alliance agreement. Through this alliance, the associations conduct joint meetings and share information of mutual interest relating to environmental health and safety, industrial relations, government affairs, innovation and technology. This year also saw the 2021 MEP Innovation Conference, held virtually in the spring. Beginning in 2022, NECA will be working jointly with MCAA and the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association (SMACNA) on the annual in-person MEP Innovation Conference. NECA looks forward to many more years of fruitful collaboration with MCAA in order to advance unionized construction.
