2021 National Award Winners: Earl C. “Duke” Austin, Jr. Honored With 2021 Coggeshall Award

Oct 10, 2021

The Coggeshall Award, established in 1956, honors a NECA contractor who is adjudged to have made an outstanding contribution to the progress of the electrical construction industry in the technical and training service field. The 2021 Coggeshall Award has been presented to Earl C. “Duke” Austin, Jr.

Austin was presented with this award on Oct. 10 as part of the NECA Convention and Trade Show in Nashville, Tennessee.

Austin is the President, CEO, and COO of Quanta Services, Inc., a Fortune 300 company and the leading specialty contractor in North America. He has committed himself to pushing the industry forward, both through working toward a carbon-neutral future and—crucially—pushing forward massive training initiatives.

Under Austin’s leadership, Quanta Services saw the launch of the Quanta Advanced Training Center in La Grange, Texas. This facility, located on the 2,300-acre Lazy Q Ranch, is designed to aid Quanta Services in creating the most consistently trained and skilled workforce in North America. Quanta Services has partnered nationally with OSHA to integrate the industry’s critical safety concerns into company training programs. He has given his time, leadership and feedback to the electrical training ALLIANCE throughout his career, to ensure it provides top-notch education and training.
