NECA Honors Our Nation's Lineworkers on July 10
July 10 marks the anniversary of the death of Henry Miller, the first President of the IBEW.
Miller was killed in the line of duty, as the head lineman for Potomac Light and Power Company, while trying to restore electricity in the Cleveland Park area of Washington, D.C. This year marks the 125th anniversary of Henry’s passing.
NECA CEO David Long made the following statement in advance of National Lineworkers Appreciation Day:
“For decades, our nation’s lineworkers have been resilient, working every day no matter the conditions, to ensure our communities and critical facilities remained connected and empowered. This year, on National Lineworker Appreciation Day, we should all take a moment to acknowledge and thank the diligent lineworkers in this country for their hard work and willingness to face any challenge.”
NECA is also proud to support a resolution introduced in the House of Representatives by Rep. Linda Sanchez (D-CA), Rep. Donald Norcross (D-NJ) and Rep. David McKinley (R-WV) recognizing July 10, 2021 as Journeyman Lineworkers Recognition Day.
