Announcing Expanded Essential Functionality for the Safety Meeting App
The Safety Meeting App already delivers a robust useful array of functional components that directly address contractors’ needs in the field, and meeting the required documenting process, without the paper shuffle. The App was just expanded to include three essential components that focus specifically on employer requirements in NFPA 70E. The app will now provide components on providing a required set of procedures for lockout/tagout processes, developing a required energized electrical work permit, and performing a shock and arc-flash risk assessment, all required by NFPA 70E to align with OSHA regulations.
Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Procedures and Process
The new Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Procedures component of the app provides employers with a set of lockout/tagout procedures to control hazardous energy, as required by OSHA. The component of the app provides an interactive form that allows the workers and supervision to facilitate and complete each of the required steps to successfully complete a LOTO operation. With the Safety Meeting App contractor portal, you get the full documentation of the process in a cloud-based report that can easily be downloaded or emailed if necessary.
The new Energized Electrical Work Permit (EEWP) component of the app tackles another required process from NFPA 70E when justified energized work must be performed. Often, an energized electrical work permit is required, and this involves completion of multiple verification steps that can easily be completed in the thorough interaction form for this component. As with all the other functions of the app, the real-time documentation in the form of a professional report is stored in the cloud as required documentation the contractor must have on file. There are multiple elements required to be included in an energized electrical work permit, and this new component of the app delivers all the goods.
Shock and Arc Flash Risk Assessment
The new Shock and Arc Flash Risk Assessment (SAFRA) component of the app provides another useful interactive process form that captures all requirements for each of these assessments required by NFPA 70E. The requirements for these assessments are clear in NFPA 70E. This component facilitates the process step-by-step, interactively, with a smartphone or other device, such as a tablet. These assessments are an essential part of performing justified energized work and selecting the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) for the task. As with the other components of the app, this component also provides a thorough, clear and easy-to-read report that meets all the requirements for employer documentation that all remains cloud-based, again avoiding the paper shuffle and saving time.
The requirements for LOTO processes and procedures, requirements for developing an energized electrical work permit (EEWP), and performing shock and arc flash risk assessments (SAFRA) are all mandated in NFPA 70E. These three new SMA components facilitate that process with easy-to-use tools within the app and, upon completion of the process, produces complete reports that satisfy the employer’s responsibility for documentation. This is a strong value-add for an already incredible product.
Subscribe today and streamline these required processes and bring some consistency and ease-of-use, along the way. All of these new components included in the app also serve as great tools for training and maintaining consistency in required safety-related work practices that meet NFPA 70E and the applicable OSHA regulations.
