The NECA Industry Partner Award is presented to individuals or organizations who are allied with the electrical construction industry.
Rounds achieved his Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Colorado, his master’s degree at the National University of Mexico in Mexico City, and his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering at the University of Dundee in Dundee, Scotland. He has used this education to consistently balance industry and academic experience, including several years as a research advocate for ELECTRI International. He was involved in the solicitation and selection process for all ongoing grants and research projects. He authored or co-authored several research reports for the foundation, including studies on best practices for prefabrication for electrical contractors, examinations of productivity and labor efficiency, and more.
In his research, Rounds has focused primarily on project management. In 2001, he became the AGC Endowed Chair Professor at the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of New Mexico. Since becoming involved with ELECTRI International, he also taught courses on project management at various NECA events and workshops, constantly working to set electrical contractors up for success on their projects. In recognition of his service to ELECTRI International and the industry overall, the foundation presented him with a special lifetime achievement award in 2019.
