Penn State University Named 2020 NECA Student Chapter of the Year
The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) launched the Student Chapter of the Year awards program in 2014 to recognize and reward outstanding NECA Student Chapters. The award was created to recognize and reward those students, faculty and NECA staff working hard year-round to run successful Student Chapters. It recognizes students for their impact on others in their community, and encourages them to continue participating in service that goes beyond themselves, while also promoting the electrical construction industry and growing the workforce.
On October 6, 2020, the NECA Student Chapter at Pennsylvania State University was named the 2020 NECA Student Chapter of the Year. The award was presented as part of NECA 2020 LIVE, the association’s virtual convention and trade show.
In second place was the NECA Student Chapter at Ball State University. In third place was Wayne State University.
NECA’s 38 Student Chapters are built to encourage students to pursue a career in the electrical contracting industry. Any college or university that currently has a construction management or related program and that encourages students to pursue a career in the electrical contracting industry is eligible to apply for affiliation as a NECA Student Chapter. NECA’s goal is to establish and nurture successful, productive NECA Student Chapters.
