DOL Proposes Rule to Clarify Employee and Independent Contractor Status Under the Fair Labor Standards Act
Today, the Department of Labor issued a new proposed rule addressing the classification of workers as independent contractors.
The proposed regulation, which will be subject to a 30 day comment period after it is formally released later this week, would institute a new structure for determining the status of the worker focusing on the “economic realities” of the worker's situation and the real-world applicability of the rule.
