OSHA Directive Update

NECA is pleased to report that we have received clarification concerning a reported OSHA directive to make COVID-19 a recordable illness on OSHA 300 logs.
NECA worked directly with the USDOL to explain the impact this would have on the electrical contracting industry. As a result of our initiative in taking on this complex issue, OSHA on March 13 issued additional details making it clear that COVID-19 can be a recordable illness "...if a worker is infected as a result of performing their work-related duties."
The directive was intended for individuals working in hospitals or environments where their work-related duties put them in direct exposure to COVID-19. NECA contractors will not be required to list COVID-19 outbreaks on their OSHA 300 logs since a construction job site does not put employees at direct risk.

OSHA is working on a Frequently Asked Questions document to give more specific guidance in light of rapidly evolving circumstances. Any updates will be posted directly on the OSHA website.
