The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Announcing the 2020 OSHA Falls Stand Down and Construction Safety Week Activities

Mar 9, 2020
NECA Safety Professionals, now is the time to prepare for the upcoming 2020 OSHA Falls Safety Stand Down and Construction Safety Week to be held May 4th through the 8th, 2020.  NECA is encouraging you to participate locally with apprenticeship and industry partners by jointly presenting a safety message raising safety awareness to apprentices.

NECA, IBEW and ETA have jointly compiled a PowerPoint presentation as a framework for local NECA safety professionals to lead and participate in a safety awareness discussion with your apprentices. Topics include striving to work de-energized, OSHA’s falls safety stand-down, stop-work authority, and who is considered a safety leader. There is also a placeholder in the presentation for discussion of local and contractor-specific topics.

May is also Electrical Safety Month and the month when the NECA Safety Professionals Conference is held May 18th to the 20th, 2020 to provide education and training to the NECA Safety Professionals in the electrical industry.

Please contact your local JATC to identify a day and time when apprentices are in school and arrange to participate in a safety presentation and roundtable discussion during Safety Week, May 4th through 8th, 2020, to share your experience and safety expectations for all apprentices and electricians to learn how and why we all work Safe!

Also, NECA encourages you to register this event with OSHA to receive a Certificate of Participation from OSHA and encourage you to share your story about your Stand-down through social media at: #StandDown4Safety .

Thank you in advance for stepping up and getting involved with safety, locally and nationally, through our training partner, the electrical training Alliance.
Please contact Wes Wheeler at NECA, ([email protected]), or Palmer Hickman with etA, ([email protected]), for more information about participation and material you can use for this event.
