The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

NECA 2019 Las Vegas: Day 1 Recap

Well, it's that time of year again; It's another NECA Convention! This year, we're coming to you from sunny Las Vegas. To keep you informed, ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR will be sending you a daily recap (the following morning), covering all that's happening at NECA 2019 Las Vegas.

Opening General Session

At the opening general session, author and CEO Tony Hsieh spoke about the importance of delivering excellent customer service. Zappo CEO and best-selling author of "Delivering Happiness," Hsieh also leads a community service initiative to benefit the downtown Las Vegas area.

In his speech, Tony focused on customer service, building community and collaboration.

NECA President Larry Beltramo also spoke about the influence of technology on the construction industry. Don't get too used to any of our current construction practices," Beltramo said.He advised electrical contractors to be careful of what they implement but to be disruptive at the same time.

Beltramo called several technologies industry disruptors, including building information modeling, robotics, low-voltage, Power over Ethernet, the internet of things, integrated project delivery and lean construction.

To wrap up his address, Beltramo challenged each electrical contractor to prepare for what's coming.
