NLMCC in Michigan Makes Donation to Yankee Air Museum Campaign

May 31, 2019

The IBEW Local 252–SouthCentral Division NECA Labor Management Cooperation Committee is making a $25,200 donation to a local museum in Michigan.

The gift to the Yankee Air Museum was for its “Save the Bomber Plant” effort. An official event was set to take place on May 24.

According to an article in the Sun Times News, the museum is raising funds for renovation work required to transform the Bomber Plant into the future new home of the Yankee Air Museum.

The news report also said that to completely renovate the structure, move the museum into its new home and add a permanent home for the historic aircraft collection, a total of $3 million is needed through 2020, with another $20 million needed to complete the project. About $12 million has been raised.

The “Save the Bomber Plant” campaign began in 2013 when the museum decided on its new location, museum associate development director Elisa Guyton told mlive.com. She said the museum will move into the 3 percent of the plant that is remaining after much of it was demolished in 2016. The final move-in date at the new location depends on when they raise the funds.
