Electrical Contractor Brian Morales to Testify Before Congress on Tuesday
An electrical contractor and member of the National Electrical Contractors Association is set to testify before Congress on Tuesday, March 26.
Brian Morales of Pro-Cal Lighting in Vista, Calif., will participate in a House Small Business Subcommittee on Contracting Infrastructure hearing at 10 a.m. in the Rayburn House Office Building. The hearing, which will be chaired by Jared Golden, a Maine Democrat, and Pete Stauber, a Minnesota Republican, is titled “Cleared for Take-Off? Implementation of the Small Business Runway Extension Act.”
Prior to legislation that was passed during the previous Congress, a business calculated its annual receipts on a three-year basis to determine if it would be classified as a small business. If that number fell below the established limit, they were considered a small business. The new law extended this period from three to five years, allowing small businesses to take advantage of those benefits for a longer period of time while also smoothing the ups and downs of the market over the years.
“This hearing will be centered around new legislation aimed at the regulation and implementation of this law,” NECA Executive Director of Government Affairs Marco Giamberardino said. “Brian will be offering the perspective of a small business owner who is immediately affected by it.”
