Lorin Gillespie of Union Electrical Co., Northern California Chapter Passes Away
The National Electrical Contractors Association’s Northern California Chapter is mourning the loss of Lorin Gillespie, who passed away on Thursday, Feb. 21.
Gillespie’s career in electrical construction goes back more than a half century, when he started with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 180 and completed his apprenticeship in 1948.
In 1977, Gillespie helped establish Union Electrical Company, Inc. He immediately joined the Northern California Chapter and was an active member of NECA until his retirement in 2010. He was elected to the chapter's Board of Directors in 1993 and served on committees and as a director for many years.
Lorin was presented with the chapter’s Distinguished Service Award in 2007. In further recognition of his “honesty, integrity, professionalism, and tireless participation for the betterment of the electrical industry,” the honor was renamed the Gillespie Award in 2009.
“Lorin approached everything he did with sincerity and a desire to do what is right,” the chapter said in a email message. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire family during this difficult time.”
