Celebrating 35 Years of Impact: The B.U.L.L. Session
In 1991, Oregon-Columbia NECA Executive Manager Tim Gauthier joined forces with local labor and business leaders to create something extraordinary — the Business and Union Labor Leaders (B.U.L.L.) Session. Their shared vision was simple yet powerful: bring leaders from across industries together with one common goal — to raise money for children’s charities.
What began as a small but passionate effort has grown into one of Oregon’s premier charity events.
The first B.U.L.L. Session Golf Tournament, held at The Resort at the Mountain, raised $5,000 for Shriners Hospital for Children in Portland. While modest in size, that first donation sparked a movement. The following year, support quadrupled, raising $20,000 — and the momentum never stopped.
Today, as the B.U.L.L. Session celebrates its 35th year, it has raised more than $8.1 million for its nonprofit partners. What started as a single tournament has evolved into a powerful tradition embraced by the Pacific Northwest’s Business, Union, and Labor communities.

Though the event has grown significantly, its mission remains unchanged: To unite Business, Union, and Labor Leaders while improving the lives of local children. Through the generous support of participants and sponsors, the B.U.L.L. Session proudly supports six nonprofit partners:
- Albertina Kerr’s Crisis Psychiatric Care Center
- Gales Creek Camp Foundation
- Shriners Hospital for Children – Portland
- Swindells Resource Center at Providence Child Center
- Wheel to Walk Foundation
The Oregon-Columbia Chapter of NECA continues to play a vital leadership role in this effort. Current Executive Manager Todd Mustard proudly serves on the B.U.L.L. Session Board of Directors, carrying forward the legacy that began more than three decades ago.
