The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Big Sky Electric

Jan 1, 2026

Big Sky Electric delivered a critical design-build upgrade at the RP-1 Wastewater Treatment Plant, a 30 MGD, 24/7 facility with no bypass capability, demonstrating precision planning, innovation and round-the-clock execution. Over 24 months of collaboration with IEUA Operations & Maintenance, the team replaced aging 15kV switchgear and medium-voltage feeders, upgraded three 1,250 kW generators with modern EMCP 4.3 controls and installed new generator paralleling switchgear.

To keep the plant fully operational, Big Sky Electric engineered and executed a complex temporary power strategy, deploying 11 generators totaling 13 MW. Plant loads were seamlessly transferred to generator power, allowing crews to disconnect RP-1 from the utility grid and complete the work during a 54-hour window, without interrupting service. The project stands as a testament to Big Sky Electric’s commitment to reliability, safety and service in the most demanding environments.
