The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Building the shell of a data center takes 18–24 months in most U.S. markets, but “time to power” can take much longer. While it varies by state, the national average wait time is four years, according to the 2026 JLL Global Data Center Outlook.

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR Releases Part 2 of 2026 Profile of the Electrical Contractor

ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR magazine has published Part 2 of its 2026 "Profile of the Electrical Contractor" survey, covering how ECs do their work, including bidding formats, purchasing habits, engineering partnerships and product specification. Findings include a shift back toward electrical distributors for purchasing, nearly 80% of contractors reporting medium to high influence over designs and specs, and availability and price remaining the top factors in product selection.
