California doles out $1.1B in infrastructure, resiliency funds

The California Transportation Commission has allocated $1.1 billion to transportation infrastructure throughout the Golden State, the agency announced Dec. 7, including $323 million from the federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, as well as $115 million from the state’s 2017 road repair law, known as Senate Bill 1.

NECA 2024 San Diego: Call for Proposals

Each year the NECA Annual Convention provides members with the tools needed to keep their companies on top with cutting-edge educational programs. We are seeking proposals on a wide-range of topics in the electrical contracting industry for our annual convention to be held in San Diego, California September 28 - October 1, 2024. With presentations both during the NECA Convention and on the Trade Show floor, we provide educational opportunities for individuals across their careers. The Call for Proposals lists the topics we’re looking for submissions on. NECA strongly encourages members to submit a proposal. The deadline to submit a proposal is January 29!

Government Affairs Weekly Update

On December 14, the FY24 National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law by the President after passing the House in a 310-118 vote, and the Senate in a 87-1 vote. NECA was able to achieve significant wins for the electrical contracting industry, including:

Authorizes increased funding for the use of hydrogen as a fuel source.
Supports the use of multiyear contracting authority as a tool to improve industrial base stability.
Improves the timeliness of payments made to small business subcontractors from 90 days to 30 days.
