Basic grounding and bonding concepts and the related performance and prescription requirements contained in the National Electrical Code (NEC) are important knowledge and skillset areas for those working in the electrical industry. Grounding and bonding are essential for safe electrical systems. Concepts such as what is ground, what is grounding, what is electrical bonding, and understanding how and why these safety circuit elements work will help master knowledge of electrical grounding and bonding. The concepts of electrical grounding and bonding are fairly straight forward and basic, yet many find them complex and challenging. This class reviews the basics of grounding and bonding and how the applicable NEC rules apply to electrical equipment and systems. Topics such as grounding, grounding electrodes, grounding electrode conductors, equipment grounding conductors, bonding, bonding jumpers, and sizing rules will be covered in detail. The course is based on the Applied Electrical Grounding and Bonding textbook and curriculum developed by the Electrical Training Alliance.
