Joseph Kaluhiokalani (Aloha Joe) started his communications career when he joined the U.S. Army in 1969. He served two years in Vietnam with the 614th Field Artillery Unit. Joe ended his Army career as a Sergeant in 1972 and was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. In 1975 Joe went through an Apprentice program with Mid-Hudson Electric, which was sponsored by the U.S. Government. In 1978 Joe worked for P.T.C. Corporation and was an Installation Moves/Changes Supervisor. In 1981 Joe helped start Tricomm Services Corporation as a Field Supervisor and in 1985 he became the Service Manager for four years. In 1992 he became a Project Manager for Tricomm and worked for Utility Services Group as their Chief Operation Officer. In 1994 Joe started Aloha Communications Contractors, Inc. as the President and that is where he is currently. Joe got his company certified as an MBE/DBE with the State of New Jersey Department of the Treasury Division of Revenue & Enterprise. His company is also certified with the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation as a Disadvantaged Business Enterprise. Pennsylvania Department of General Services has certified his company as a Small Diverse Business. Aloha Communications Contractors, Inc. is also certified as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned company. Additionally, Joe also serves on the Local 98 Sound & Communications Apprentice Committee and has for 20 years. He also serves on the board of trustees with the Penn-Del-Jersey National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) chapter for 18 years. In 2021 Joe became a founding member of the NECA National Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B) Task Force and its Data Collection Subcommittee. Joe initiated two (2) new committees for the Pen-Del-Jersey Chapter: the chapter DEI Committee and the newly founded Military Veterans & Service Members (Veterans) Committee. In 2021, Joe was selected as the recipient of the chapters DEI awarded, which is presented, only when earned, to an individual making significant contributions to DEI efforts. Joe sits on and is currently the Board Chair for South Jersey Behavioral Health Resources (SJBHR).

Joe was awarded the NECA James H McGraw award and was inducted in the Academy of Electrical Contracting in October of 2022.

Joe attended Burlington County College under the GI Bill. He has also attended numerous continuing education programs including Tuck University at Dartmouth. He has been certified on several telephone switches throughout his career. Joe lives with his wife Tina in Woodbury Hts. New Jersey. They raised four children and have ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.

In addition to family and friend activities, Joe is an avid sports fan of the Philadelphia teams. He enjoys playing League softball, and competitive Basketball and Volleyball.
