The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Multipiemployer Pension Reform

Our contractors value and support the multiemployer pension system. It is the bedrock of the signatory electrical construction industry. In order to modernize and continuously improve the benefits our contractors offer NECA Government Affairs continues to work towards strengthening this system.
  • Authorize the creation of the innovative composite plan design, which would combine the key features of defined benefit and defined contribution plans.
  • Provide zone structure relief to multiemployer pension plans.
  • Make structural reforms to withdraw liability to ensure contractors are not unduly burdened.
  • Implement provisions like those in the Worker, Retiree, and Employer Recovery Act of 2008, and the Pension Relief Act of 2010, which would give plans the ability to freeze their zone status and smooth investment losses.
