DOE proposes easing environmental reviews for certain storage, solar, transmission projects
Department of Energy is proposing to ease environmental reviews for certain energy storage, solar and rebuilt or upgraded transmission projects on federal land. Those types of projects — given their limited effect on the environment — would be eligible for “categorical exclusions” under the proposal published Thursday in the Federal Register.

NECA and ELECTRI Sign Registered Apprenticeship Agreement with the U.S. Department of Labor
In partnership with the U.S. DOL, NECA and ELECTRI have launched a much-needed project management workforce pipeline. The signing ceremony was held Tuesday, November 14th, to announce ELECTRI’s ‘Project Management Apprenticeship’ as the National Guidelines for Apprenticeship Standards—which states can adopt as a Registered Apprenticeship Program. This will verify a pathway for high-quality training and internship experience to enhance the appeal and interest of entering the construction management field.
NECA Government Affairs: Week in Review
After ten straight weeks in session, Congress has avoided it’s second government funding deadline. The Continuing Resolution (CR) passed the House on November 14th with 127 Republicans and 209 Democrats supporting the measure. The Senate followed suit, passing the CR on the evening of November 15th. This two-tiered “laddered” stopgap bill establishes two funding deadlines for different parts of the government. The Agriculture, Energy-Water, Military Constriction-VA, and Transportation-HUD funding has been extended to January 19th.
