NECA welcomes Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) as a confirmed keynote speaker on Wednesday, May 7 at 9:30 a.m. at the National Legislative Conference, Washington, D.C.
A native of Sac City, Iowa, Representative Swalwell was raised in Dublin, California, just outside of San Francisco. In 2003 he graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree. During his undergraduate tenure, Swalwell served as an intern for U.S. Representative Ellen Tauscher (D-CA) in 2001-2002. He would go on to receive his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland in 2006. Following college, Swalwell moved back to California serving as a prosecutor and deputy district attorney for Alameda County, California from 2006-2012. He simultaneously served on the Dublin City Council from 2010-2012.
In 2012 Swalwell was elected to the One Hundred Thirteenth Congress representing California’s 15th district. In his brief time in Congress, Swalwell has served on the House Committee on Homeland Security, Subcommittee on Transportation Security, House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, Subcommittee on Energy, and Subcommittee on Oversight.
