Congratulations to the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter for winning the 2016 Chairman’s Challenge!
In addition to sending 60 letters to the Hill and having three members attend the National Legislative Conference in Washington, DC, Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter Executive Jeff Scarpello and Chapter Government Affairs Manager Helen Levins, along with several contractors took part in 16 meetings with Members of Congress in the area, including: Sen. Tom Carper, Sen. Chris Coons, Rep. Brendan Boyle, Rep. Lou Barletta, Rep. Ryan Costello, Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, Rep. Dwight Evans, Rep. Pat Meehan, Rep. Donald Norcross, Rep. Charlie Dent, Rep. Tom Marino, and Rep. Matt Cartwright.
The Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter will receive one free registration to the 2017 Legislative Conference in Washington, DC on April 26 and 27, 2017.
The goal of the Chairman's Challenge is to increase NECA member involvement in grassroots lobbying by challenging each chapter to send letters to their Representative through NECA’s Legislative Action Center, attend the National Legislative Conference, and host a meeting with a Member of Congress in their district, which gives NECA contractors an opportunity to discuss their policy positions and show Members of Congress first-hand how these issues impact the electrical construction industry.
Overall the program was a great success with 96 Congressional meetings, over 500 letters sent to the Hill, and 150 attendees at the Legislative Conference. We want to thank all participants for expanding NECA's government affairs and grassroots efforts.
