Regulatory Reform to be Vetoed

Sep 23, 2016

This week, the White House warned that presidential advisers are recommending President Barack Obama veto legislation (H.R. 3438) that would block regulations costing more than $1 billion annually from being implemented until all legal challenges have been exhausted. "Given the extensive existing statutory framework already governing agency rules, the additional delays created by H.R. 3438 would needlessly endanger the welfare of the American public, while providing no benefit and creating a powerful incentive for litigation with little to no merit," the administration said in a statement of administration policy.

Rep. Tom Marino's (R-PA) REVIEW Act is designed to address concerns held by NECA and other organizations about being forced to comply initially with regulations, many of which have been forced by Executive Order, that may ultimately not survive in the courts. Floor action is expected on the legislation later this week.
