With the beginning of summer comes the threat of hurricanes. For electrical contractors, being prepared for those disasters is essential.
Attendees will able to find future technologies and tools to keep them ahead of the competition at the all-new Lineman Pavilion at the trade show at NECA 2018 Philadelphia. (The annual event is scheduled for Sept. 29-Oct. 2).
The Line Construction Advancement Fund, Northeastern Apprenticeship Training program and the New York State Lineman’s Safety Training Fund will be conducting demonstrations on the show floor utilizing their Mobile Transformer Training Trailer and Mobile High Voltage Test Lab.
Among the topics that will be addressed:
- Transformer connections and configurations
- Personal Protective Grounding Simulations
- High Voltage Testing or Rubber Gloves & Sleeves
- Di-electric testing of hot sticks
- Hi-Pot testing
The Electrical Safety Foundation International recently provided safety tips and resources to help prevent electric shock and electrocution during disasters, as well as information on how to rebuild safely after disasters have passed. They can be found at www.esfi.org/disaster-safety.
Select exhibitors will have outside products on the show floor for what has become the No. 1 event in the electrical construction industry. Go to www.necaconvention.org for more information.
