Annual IBEW-NECA Employee Benefits Conference Rescheduled and Relocated

After a number of years at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club, a scheduling conflict with the hotel has required the Employee Benefits Conference to be moved to a different place and time.

The conference is staying in Florida and in January, but will move up the Gulf Coast side and move tentatively from a Thursday – Friday schedule to a Sunday – Wednesday schedule to incorporate some break-out sessions prior to the main conference.

The new location is the TradeWinds Island Resorts, St. Pete Beach, Florida.

tradewindThe working schedule is for the conference to begin with a workshop followed by an evening reception on Sunday, January 27, 2019.  The following morning, Monday, January 28, there will be four classes providing training on subjects such as fiduciary responsibility, OLMS compliance for funds, infrastructure investments, etc. Monday afternoon will continue the reciprocity meeting followed by a meeting of the fund administrators. The main conference will begin on Tuesday morning, January 29 and will end at noon on January 30.

We understand that the new dates will conflict with some District Winter Council Meetings, but for 2019, this was unfortunately unavoidable.

Registration and hotel reservation information will be available closer to the event.

CPAL Clarified

NECA and the IBEW previously announced the Construction Pre-Apprentice Lineman classification.  Since the release of the MoU on the new classification, several questions have arisen.  NECA and the IBEW have met to discuss these concerns and have modified the original MoU to clarify its intent, allow for some local options, and address the questions that were raised.
