2017 National Electrical Code® Adoption Update

Feb 05, 2018

NECA Standing Policy 3 recommends adoption of the latest National Electrical Code® edition in the interest of public and building safety.

Mike Johnston, NECA executive director standards and safety, stresses the importance of adoption because, "The latest editions include requirements related to new technology like: energy storage, large scale PV, microgrids, energy management, wireless EV charging, and power over ethernet (POE)."

"Jurisdictions that choose not to adopt the latest edition will be challenged when handling systems of these technologies. Serious consideration should be given relative to delayed NEC adoption. These are only a few of the reasons that justify a swift adoption and immediate use of the latest NEC."
