The relationship between the National Electrical Contractors Association’s chapter in the Quad Cities and its labor counterpart continues to grow, and their connection was recently highlighted by local media.
One project being wrapped last week was the Bend Event Center in East Moline, Ill. Union electricians did the work.
“It’s a wonderful feeling when you walk into the lobby and you can see the craftsmanship that goes into it,” Alan Anderson, executive director of NECA’s Quad Cities Chapter, told WQAD.
NECA and IBEW leaders also met at the nearby Hyatt Hotel to talk about the electrical industry in the Quad Cities. Members of the organizations held a joint labor-management meeting to discuss how to build market share and champion safety on the job.
There are many projects ongoing in the area, and while IBEW business manager Cory Bergfeld said their work can be difficult, workers get an apprenticeship and educational benefits, and the pay, benefits and retirement, are “phenomenal.”
