The recent 7.0 earthquake in Alaska has prompted many electrical contractors to come together for the good of their community.
Alcan Electrical & Engineering Inc., a member of the National Electrical Contractors Association in NECA’s Alaska Chapter, has been working with the local school district and other contractors to make the make schools electrically safe for kids.
“We have working through the weekend and will continue to do so,” chapter manager Larry Bell, he added a special shout-out to the Anchorage School District “for having such a great emergency recovery plan in place.”
News reports said the earthquake shook buildings, damaged highways and prompted a tsunami warning that was later canceled. It hit about eight miles north of Anchorage, the most populous city in the state, at 8:30 a.m. local time, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. A declaration of disaster was issued by the state’s governor.
