National Electrical Contractors Association President David Long released the following statement regarding National Apprenticeship Week, which is being held this year on Nov. 12-18:
The National Electrical Contractors Association is proud to join the country in celebrating National Apprenticeship Week.
I’ve said often that apprenticeship is the backbone of the electrical construction industry. I started out as an apprentice. Investing in the training and retraining of workers for high-demand industries like ours will help our economy thrive for years to come. Earlier this fall, NECA pledged to help create career opportunities for 60,000 Americans over the next five years. Enthusiasm will be key, and that was on full display during NECA 2018 Philadelphia, when a record number of apprentices turned out for Apprentice Appreciation Day. It was a phenomenal experience.
NECA remains committed to building a dynamic workforce and encouraging career development in apprenticeship programs throughout the United States. Please take a moment to visit https://www.dol.gov/apprenticeship/naw/ to learn how you can get involved in National Apprenticeship Week.
