Oregon Appentices Going to NECA 2018 Philadelphia after Winning Video Competition

Sep 25, 2018

A pair of first-year apprentices with NECA’s Oregon-Columbia Chapter will be heading to NECA 2018 Philadelphia after winning a video contest held by one of the chapter’s members.

Christenson Electric’s Cali Amende-Powers and Kristina Jones will join electrical contractors this Friday for the annual gathering, the year’s top event in the electrical construction industry. NECA is expecting more than 2,000 apprentices from around the country to celebrate Apprentice Appreciation Day on Sunday.

NECA’s Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter has teamed up with the area’s premier local Joint Apprentice Training Centers to bring apprentices a special program including a customized workshop aimed at enhancing and contributing to the needs of professional apprentices working at all levels of the industry.

Sonja Rheaume, Portland-based Christenson Electric’s vice president of operations, said her company received 12 entries from apprentices. They used their phones to create two-minute pieces explaining how the values of Christenson Electric are reflected in their work.

“They were all really good,” Rheaume said.

NECA 2018 Philadelphia will be held on Sept. 29-Oct. 2 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Go to www.necaconvention.org for more information.
