NECA recently reported
on two forthcoming rules would be issued by the Department of Labor that will require federal contractors to perform vast amounts of additional record-keeping requirements. The rules require federal contractors to take extensive measures to combat any perceived discrimination in the hiring of veterans and meeting additional affirmative action obligations for individuals with disabilities. The U.S. Department of Labor this week announced the approval of these two final rules to improve hiring and employment of veterans and people with disabilities. One rule updates the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act of 1974; the other updates Section 503 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
The rules will become effective 180 days after their publication in the Federal Register.
