Finding capable managers to oversee current projects and plan for future growth is becoming an increasing challenge for all types of construction contractors. The purpose of establishing NECA Student Chapters
is to encourage smart, capable young people who are studying construction management or related programs to consider careers in electrical contracting. Of course, we must demonstrate that our industry offers them real jobs and real career paths — or else other industries will snatch the best and brightest construction management students away!
And that’s why all NECA contractors who are looking for talent to fill managerial jobs and internships in their companies are urged to join in our Speed Interviewing and Networking Event, 2:30–3:15 pm. Sunday, October 13, during the NECA 2013 Washington D.C. Convention
. Contractors will have five to eight minutes to talk to a pool of students about a job and the skills needed. Then, a bell will ring and the students will rotate to another contractor. Participating students are being encouraged to bring their resumes; participating contractors should bring plenty of business cards and be prepared to offer the students useful feedback.
