Two NECA chapters received Honor Roll awards for their purchases of National Electrical Installation Standards at the recent Association Executives Institute (AEI) in Washington, DC (March 6-8, 2013). NECA's Codes and Standards Executive Director Michael Johnston presented awards to:
- Southeastern Michigan — NEIS Silver Award
- Boston — NEIS Silver Award
NECA's Honor Roll program ranks chapters that purchase NEIS into five levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Diamond, Platinum) based on cumulative purchases over time. Top-purchasing chapters receive plaques each year at AEI, based on the following criteria:
- Platinum Award (5000 copies or more)
- Diamond Award (3000 copies or more)
- Gold Award (1000 copies or more)
- Silver Award (500 copies or more)
New NEIS are being developed continually to ensure that the standards remain on point with current and emerging industry technology and trends. Today, the NEIS library of standards includes more than 43 titles. Our latest NEIS are related to renewable energy and energy management. It is hoped that every chapter manager helps promote the NEIS and that they will continue to support them by purchasing them.
"Promoting the NEIS is an integral part of the Boston Chapter’s effort to market its members as the quality leaders in the electrical and VDV industries," observes Chapter Executive Glenn Kingsbury.
"Another way for chapters to network with specifiers in their community is through our CD-ROM subscription plan," says Diana Brioso, administrative assistant of standards and safety publications for NECA. "Subscribers automatically receive an updated NEIS Yearbook each year containing the latest versions of all published standards, and one or two new publications."
