Milwaukee Electric Tools Extends Support for NJATC

Jan 31, 2013

The National Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the Electrical Industry (NJATC) has just announced an extension of the Milwaukee Test and Measurement Academy, first announced at the National Training Institute in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in August 2010. Milwaukee Electric Tools continues to demonstrate an exceptional level of support for the workers in the organized electrical industry by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) outlining this support. For an additional three years, Milwaukee will continue to support the NJATC’s blended learning program not only through the Test and Measurement Academy but also through the augmentation of other areas within the NJATC curriculum.

The NJATC is a nonprofit organization founded by the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) to develop and standardize education in the electrical industry. Milwaukee’s $2.5 million extension of support will continue to ensure the company’s predominant position as an NJATC “Platinum Level” training partner.  This three-year extension will continue existing programs and add additional resources and scholarships to the NJATC curriculum, including:

  • The Milwaukee Test and Measurement Academy — Currently includes an “Introduction to Meters” and a series of seven “Work Order” scenarios that will allow learners to troubleshoot real-world installations in an immersive 3D gaming environment.

  •
  • Local JATC support — Through the implementation of the Big H.O.S.S. (Hands-On Simulated Systems) program and outfitting of a limited number of JATCs per year with display boards and endowment of products to 30 JATCs per year.

  •
  • Support for the NJATC National Training Institute (NTI) — Through the support of both NTI graduates and Outstanding Apprentices, as well as support for every “Instructor Group” participant in the Institute.

“The NJATC is proud to continue to build a long-term relationship with a company of the caliber of Milwaukee; there is no doubt that this MOU propels the relationship to higher levels. We always desire to work with companies who are leaders in the market, and there is no doubt that Milwaukee fits this description,” said NJATC Executive Director Michael Callanan.

“The NJATC is grateful for the commitment from Milwaukee and believes that the partnership is a good fit because of the NJATC’s aspiration and commitment to being a leader in the creation and delivery of world-class training materials for the organized electrical industry,” Callanan said.

“Since launching a complete line of test and measurement products in 2009, we remain focused on educating future generations of apprentices and journeymen,” said Milwaukee President of Sales Darrell Hendrix. “We are extremely proud to partner with the NJATC to further develop educational tools that will ultimately increase the student’s productivity and safety.”
