Welcome back,

Planners and Timers and Apps, Oh My!:

Choosing The Right Tools for Personalizing Your Productivity

We are surrounded by productivity and organizing advice. Google the term “office productivity” and you’ll get thousands of articles recommending the latest tips, gadgets, or hacks promising to help you get your work done quickly, efficiently, and creatively. But how many of us try a technique or software, maybe even read a whole book by an organizing guru, only to drop the new habit or idea after a few weeks? What creates the difference between tips that work for us, and tips that never catch on - and is it even worth it to try any of them?

In this presentation, I’ll walk attendees through methods to find and identify the strategies that will support their best office time and task management, as well as improve overall organization and productivity.

SPEAKER BIO:

Skillen Skillset_Marketing_Images_06.2016-5Sara Skillen is the owner of SkillSet Organizing, a professional organizing and productivity coaching business serving the Greater Nashville, TN area. Her mission is to help overwhelmed people from all walks of life manage their stuff, their time, and their tasks. A former educator and paralegal, Sara has worked in just about every kind of setting you can imagine - from a converted janitor's closet, to a cubicle in an international corporation, to telecommuting from a home office. In all of these situations she was intrigued by the ways surroundings can affect our work, wellbeing, and productivity, and as a result was inspired to found her company in 2012.

Sara is a Certified Professional Organizer®, an Evernote Certified Consultant, and is currently pursuing coursework to become a Certified ADHD Organizer Coach. She has also earned Level I Certificates in Chronic Disorganization, Basic ADD, and Time Management & Productivity from the Institute for Challenging Disorganization. Sara is a member of the National Association of Productivity and Organizing Professionals (NAPO), and currently serves as the chair of NAPO’s Awards & Recognition Committee as well as Vice President of the Nashville chapter. An active blogger and speaker, her tips and ideas have been featured in Glass Door, Entrepreneur, Angie’s List Experts, and New Focus Magazine (formerly NOU), as well as her own blog “Sorting Through the Haystack”. She has presented empowerment sessions at the SURVIVORville events (for women cancer survivors) in 2013, 2014, and 2017, and has appeared as a guest expert on CrusherTV™, and Living Inspired with Karen Shayne.

When not helping people live more organized lives, Sara can be found walking her two Labrador Retrievers, or trading book recommendations with friends.

In this presentation we’ll cover three key points:

• Why effective productivity is important, and why it’s different for different people

• How to determine a unique learning and organizing style

• How to discover the tools, techniques, and strategies that best support that style (so they stick for the long term)
