In his two-part training, we discuss performing a takeoff and completing an estimate for a project as well as summarizing the estimate and bidding on the project. We will conclude with a discussion on bidding the project and topics like alternates, value engineering, risk, and profit.

In Part 1, we will discuss performing a takeoff and completing an estimate for a project. Emphasis will be placed on accuracy, consistency, and industry best practices. Participants will complete a small electrical takeoff, develop a material listing, and be introduced to using the NECA Manual of Labor Units.

In Part 2, we will discuss summarizing the estimate and bidding on the project. Summarizing the estimate will include the estimate review process and accounting for other costs associated with the project such as direct job expenses, supplier quotes, and overhead. This session will then conclude with a discussion on bidding the project and topics like alternates, value engineering, risk, and profit.
