Understanding the Requirements of the 2018 NFPA 70E - Los Angeles | August 13-14, 2019

The National Fire Protection Association developed NFPA 70E, the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace at the request of OSHA to provide the requirements for Electrical Safe Work Practices in the electrical industry.  This training program is designed to provide attendees with the guidance and rules related to proper risk assessment, control of electrical energy and proper selection of personal protective equipment.  The proper care and maintenance of equipment and also the proper selection of electrical protective devices and their use will be presented and discuss during this course. This course was designed to provide a clear understanding of rules and regulations related to this standard and its relevance to Federal OSHA regulations.  A copy of the NFPA 70E Standard will be given to each attendee.  This course will be presented in eight separate modules using PowerPoint slides following the articles and sections found in the NFPA 70E Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace. 

Following the class, participants will be able to:

  • Identify relevant Federal OSHA standards
  • Discuss employer and employee responsibilities
  • Describe a systems approach to safety
  • Discuss planning and elements of control
  • Discuss 70E best practices
  • Identify rules and regulations related to proper risk assessment 
  • Describe the importance of personal protective equipment selection
