The site navigation utilizes arrow, enter, escape, and space bar key commands. Left and right arrows move across top level links and expand / close menus in sub levels. Up and Down arrows will open main level menus and toggle through sub tier links. Enter and space open menus and escape closes them as well. Tab will move on to the next part of the site rather than go through menu items.

Recognition of Safety Achievement Program

NECA's Safety Recognition Program includes three categories: Safety Excellence, Small Contractor Safety Excellence, and Zero-Injury Achievement.

NECA’s Recognition of Safety Achievement Program is an elite safety recognition focused on recognizing thriving companies that excel in multiple areas of their safety and health programs. Member companies that consistently show no injuries, illnesses, or fatalities and implement internal company safety practices above and beyond basic compliance will continue to be recognized with our Zero-Injury Recognition program.

New criteria for Safety Excellence and a new category for Small Contractors Safety Excellence are being introduced for 2025. The new criteria will follow the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) and overall safety industry focus on companies that implement internal company safety practices above and beyond basic compliance and show an absence of serious injuries and fatalities.

Safety Excellence Recognition (NEW CRITERIA)

Safety Leaders and OSHA have learned while recordables have been driven steadily downward, serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs) have not. The companies that successfully address SIFs need to be recognized as elite. The Safety Excellence is the association’s premier recognition program and acknowledges member-contractors’ safety performance.

Criteria:

  • Business Size: 100,001 man-hours or more
  • Days Away, Restricted and Transfer (DART) Rate: Equal to or less than National Average
  • Lost Workday Case Rate (LWDCR): Equal to or less than the National Average
  • Severe Injuries (as defined by OSHA):
  • Fatalities: 0

Small Contractor Safety Excellence (NEW CATEGORY)

NECA, aligning with the evolving safety standards, is introducing a new Safety Recognition Award for small electrical contractors. This award recognizes the exceptional effort electrical contractors make, despite limited resources, to ensure the safety of their employees. Similar to the new criteria for the basic NECA Safety Recognition Award, the focus for this Award is on the prevention of serious injuries and fatalities. To qualify, members must meet size qualifications and safety metrics stemming from calculations using Small Business Administration figures and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) definition for Severe Injuries.

Criteria:

  • Business Size: 100,000 man-hours or less
  • Severe Injuries (as defined by OSHA): 0
  • Fatalities: 0

When registering, contractors will automatically be entered into the Zero Injury and applicable Safety Excellence Safety Recognition Programs. Winners are selected based on their comparison to BLS data and electrical contractors.

2025 NECA Safety Ambassadors Medal

The NECA Safety Ambassadors Medal recognizes the top NECA member that has exemplified superior performance in the area of safety providing leadership, support and recognition to employees that lead by example. The NECA Safety Ambassadors medal recipient is selected for achieving a superior safety performance score in the NECA Recognition of Safety Achievement Programs. This cumulative score is based on a point system for having injury and illness rates and an Experience Modification Rate (EMR) which are better than the BLS Statistics, OSHA, insurance, and industry safety standards.

This year, the announcement of the NECA Safety Ambassadors Medal recipient will be April 15, 2025. The member company that receives the NECA Safety Ambassadors Medal will get two free registrations to the NECA Safety Professionals Conference, one for senior management and one for the company safety professional to accept the medal during the NECA Recognition of Safety Achievement announcements at the NSPC.

Top NECA District Participation

NECA Safety will also recognize the top NECA District Participation in the NECA Recognition of Safety Achievement Program based on applications submitted for this program.
