Alternative Energy - For Your Building?

Published:
2007
Description:

This EDL discusses alternative, renewable energy - a contributor to the U.S. energy supply that is expected to increase exponentially over the next 20 years.  The EDL also discusses the Renewable Portfolio Standards (RPS) that require utilities to purchase from renewable sources a specified percentage of electricity they sell to consumers.  It explains that renewable technologies generate power in centralized stations and offer opportunities for smaller "local" electricity generation.  Many electric utilities are starting "net metering" programs and pay building owners for excess electricity which on-site electric generating systems feed back into the utility's grid.
