Create Electronics-Friendly Facilities

Published:
2005
Description:

The operation of electronic devices that are increasingly mission-critical to building tenants can be interfered with by facility infrastructure deficiencies. There are ways to address this problem during the design and construction phase of projects; and for most facilities, implementing basic electronics-friendly measures is enough, but this carries two caveats:

  • You must understand what those measures are and how to implement them; and,
  • You must know when those measures are insufficient and how to economically implement the correct measures.

Implementing additional measures will raise construction costs, so understanding "who the customer is" is essential. This EDL helps designers ensure a new facility will adequately accommodate electronic loads for its intended purpose, and at a reasonable cost.

A free download of this EDL is available at www.necanet.org/edl.
