Lousiana-Area Contractors Attend Class on 2015 NFPA 70E

Jun 06, 2017

In late-April, more than 75 area contractors attended an education session at the Northeast Louisiana Chapter, NECA, focused on the 2015 NFPA 70E, the Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace.

Electricians and apprentices in attendance included employees from Copeland Electric Company, EMS Electric of Monroe, Jones Electric Company, RLH Electric and Twin City. Instructors for the class included NECA's director of safety, Wes Wheeler, and Jim Dollard, Safety Coordinator for IBEW LU 98 in Philadelphia.

"Northeast Louisiana Chapter Governor Martin West and Chapter Executive Toni Mullins were instrumental in scheduling the class." said Wheeler, “The electricians and apprentices there were appreciative and walked away with a better understanding of NFPA 70E and its requirements.”

Included in the presentation were sections from NECA's latest guides that make up the NECA Safety Systems for NFPA 70E to assist contractors and electricians in understanding and conveying the requirements found in the consensus standard.
