Jerry McGlynn, Safety Director at Schaumburg, Illinois-based McWilliams Electric, has been selected as this year’s recipient of the Francis P. Cummins Award.
Since 1979, the award has been given annually by the Paddy’s Day Luncheon Society to a member of the electrical industry for their “dedication to the society’s ideals and principles to bring together each year on the feast day of St. Patrick, March 17, those of Irish heritage and their friends who are part of the electrical industries of the City of Chicago.”
McGlynn was recognized in front of a crowd of more than 900 attendees March 10 in the famed Chicago Hilton and Towers Grand Ballroom.
McGlynn said that after hearing his name announced, he was speechless and could only say “Thank you and Happy St. Patrick’s Day!” from the podium. However, once out of the spotlight, he went on to thank his father, James McGlynn, for raising him to follow the Golden Rule, for sharing his core values in life, and for instilling in him the value of giving back to the industry.
