Part 4 of the Grounding and Bonding Webinar Series

Tuesday, March 24 at 11AM EST, Mike Johnston presented the fourth webinar of the grounding and bonding series. Part 4 reviews the basic requirements for grounding separately derived systems and reviews the requirements for transformers and generator systems. Mike will also demonstrate what constitutes a separately derived system and will introduce other topics including: sizing requirements for grounding electrode conductors, system bonding jumpers, equipment bonding jumpers and grounding electrodes.

Safety Webinar on PPE

On February 24, 11AM EST, Jerry Rivera, NECA’s Director of Safety, presented a free webinar on Personal Protective Equipment: Regulatory Changes and the Impact on the Electrical Contractors.

Part 3 of the Grounding and Bonding Webinar Series

Lock-Out Tag-Out Webinar

NECA and Intec hosted a free safety webinar on Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) on Tues., Dec. 9, 2008 at 11am EST.

Presenter Joe O’Connor of Intec reviewed LOTO requirements and highlight information on maintaining electrically safe working conditions. He also covered the effectiveness of properly applying LOTO procedures in accordance with OSHA and NFPA 70E regulations.

Part 1 in a Series on Electrical Grounding and Bonding

November 4, 2008, 11am EDT, Mike Johnston, Executive director of Standards and Safety, NECA, kicked off the first in a series of Grounding and Bonding based web seminars. The webinar provided an overview of electrical grounding and bonding fundamentals. Electrical grounding and bonding performance criteria is presented in clear, easy to understand language to set the foundation for more specific presentation that follows. The basics of grounding (connecting to earth) and bonding (connecting together) were reviewed along with how to effectively apply the NEC grounding and bonding requirements to electrical systems and installations. Attendees learned the two concepts and differentiate between the two, and developed a clear understanding about the earth’s role in the electrical safety circuits.
